Lets Start a Online Vedic Maths Carnival

by The Vedic Maths Forum India
Posted on 28 October, 2009

Since there are many teachers on Wiziq on Vedic Mathematics I was thinking of launching this community by Having an Online Vedic Maths Carnival.

We could have it for a Week and Interested teachers could give presentations to students on the dates decided for the Carnival.

We all would attend the presentations and would learn from each others strengths and contribute to one's weakness, All aiming to perfecting one's style of presentation.

The Students would be the Ultimate Beneficiaries as they would stand to gain out of the knowledge being shared.

So I take the Liberty to List down the topics for the Carnival and Interested Teachers can apply! Vikram and Harman, If we don't get many responses to this one Consider us doing the Honours for the Workshops.

TOPICS:

1) Introduction to Vedic Maths -Multiplication : The Base Method ; Nikhilam.
2) Multiplication: Vertically & Crosswise
3) Squares- Duplex Method; Dwanda Yoga
4) Division by Flag Method
5) Subtraction
6) Algebra
7) Recurring Decimals.

There are many other topics for Vedic Maths but we can have them for later.

What do you guys Think?

I met with Gaurav a few days ago too and he mentioned about you! Small world :)
It is great that you presented WiZiQ to the teachers there. If you are in touch with them, let them know that our teacher training team will be happy to get them started.

I will get the proceedings of the conference soon. In it will be the teacher's email id's on which you can tell them that your teacher training team will get them started. As soon as I get the proceedings I will send a copy to you.

Hey Guys!
The Plan is still very much on. We are just waiting for some teachers to participate and a garnering some critical mass on the students who would attend, hence the delay!

But you tell me when should we start?

Hey Harman....
I met Gaurav Bhatnagar at IIT Bombay and we were discussing Wiziq and the great work it has done. I also presented Wiziq to the teachers at a Workshop and there jaws literally dropped to see something like this existed.

Way to go!

Vivek I have given you to explain the Squares by the Duplex method. You can choose any topic u like also but since u mentioned u wud be comfortable in any topic, I just chose a random topic and gave it to you. Vivek you could confirm this to me.

Any Younger teacher who would like to explain Multiplication -- this is the right chance for you to get experience. So Apply Quickly.

I think as per discussions with Vikrama , November 2nd to 3rd Week would be a good time to hold the Online Carnival. Say we can do it from 14th November Onwards. What do you guys think?

I was wondering if a Mail be sent to all the Mathematics Teachers on WiZiQ inviting them to the New vedic Mathematics Community.?

Current Members can spread more awareness about this community on their current lists.

Can we have more ideas about what else can we do in the Carnival. I would like to suggest keeping some Online tests at the end of teachers session and giving Participants Prizes based on who's the quickest to answer. What do u think?

Write in.

by letusexplore posted on 19 November, 2009
Hi Gaurav
I am ok with division by flag method.
Also I would like a separate session to check divisibility for various numbers - other than the commonly uses numbers.
Would like to know about timings - if they are flexible we can plan on a suitable date & time accordingly.
Best wishes
